Chamoli district

Chamoli became a separate revenue district in 1960. The Alaknanda and its tributaries are central to understanding its landscape. The district geography reference identifies the Nandakini–Alaknanda confluence at Nandprayag and the Pindar–Alaknanda confluence at Karnprayag.
