Almora district

Almora belongs to the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. The district name and the town name are often used interchangeably in travel writing, but they describe different geographical scales. A town-centre address, a business in Ranikhet and an institution in Chaukhutia need separate locality labels even when all belong to Almora district.

Reading the administrative map

The district administration lists eleven development blocks: Bhaisiachana, Bhikiyasain, Chaukhutiya, Dhauladevi, Dwarahat, Hawalbag, Lamgara, Sult, Syalde, Takula and Tarikhet. These are administrative areas, not a list of interchangeable visitor destinations. Tehsils and blocks also serve different administrative purposes; a directory should retain both kinds of information where the source supplies them.

Names and neighbouring places

English spellings vary. Bhikiyasen and Bhikiyasain, or Chaukhutia and Chaukhutiya, can refer to the same locality. Search should recognise variants without inventing new districts or duplicate businesses. The official district portal is the reference for administrative descriptions.

Kausani is commonly included in an Almora travel itinerary, but the Bageshwar district administration lists Kausani among its destinations. An individual business still needs its own address checked; a tourism circuit alone does not establish its district.
